Manatee Viewing Center

Written by Ellen Mueller

Now, I know this place isn't exactly IN Tampa, however it is very CLOSE to Tampa...

After visiting The Manatee Viewing Center at Tampa Electric’s Big Bend Power Station, I'd say it is a great place to bring friends and family from out of town because there are only a handful of locations in the world where you can see these gentle creatures. You can make it a brief stop or spend some time watching the manatees poke their heads out of the water to breath. Plus, it has a great little environmental education facility for those who would like to learn more about these animals.

The Center welcomes the public annually from November 1 through April 15. It is FREE - no admission fees. The Manatee Viewing Center is located at 6990 Dickman Road in Apollo Beach, Florida.
